Cinco de Mayo Celebration

Olga Martinez dances a cumbia with Robert Williamson at the celebration Cinco de Mayo hosted by the restaurant Cilantro Tamales. Singer and dancer, Jane Trejo-Beverly, recruited her sisters and a group of friends and organized her first folkloric Jalisco dance show. Cinco de Mayo marks the victory of the Mexican army over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

The 12th Annual Taste of Bonita

In her small space next to the Cilantro Tamales tent, Jane Trejo-Beverly performs the hypnotic twists and turns of ballet folklorico, a style of dance that accompanies Mexican mariachi music. Trejo-Beverly sings and dances with a female mariachi group in the Bonita Springs area.
